Etna Rosso 'Serra della Contessa' Benanti 2010

The Serra della Contessa is the velvety Etna Rosso wine of the cellar Benanti. A company who "emphasizing the choice to be consistent with our philosophy of respecting the terroir and nature", they create wines that leave a mark in the memory, in the name of conservation of the local landscape heritage. The company was founded in 1992 in the small town of Viagrande, in the province of Catania, from the desire to create something that would re-evaluate the area at the foot of Mount Etna. Here, the Cavalier Giuseppe Benanti recovered a century old vineyard on Monte Serra, a volcanic cone of Etna born from the geomorphological tantrums, which today is a vineyard. The strength of the winery Benanti is to have been able to exploit the mountain that houses its vineyards, arranging them in order to obtain the maximum performance from the exposure of different sides, so the grapes nerello mascalese and nerello hood and the other red wines, are planted to the north. The Serra della Contessa name appears on an official document, in Latin, at the end of the fifteenth century and now lives again thanks to the heroic viticulture wine cellar Benanti. The volcanic soil of Mount Etna terroir expresses itself with elegance when we taste the Serra della Contessa, a voluptuous Etna Rosso conquering in no time with its rich texture but smooth and the intensity of its charming bouquet.
