The Champagne Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru "Grande Cuvée" from the Maison Robert Moncuit is a Millesimato of excellent quality, expressing all the finesse and mineral freshness typical of the great Chardonnays of the Côte des Blancs. The extraordinary quality of the grapes and the long period of maturation on the lees allow it to achieve remarkable complexity and aromatic richness, which is expressed with notes of ripe fruit, dried fruit, hints of tertiary evolution well balanced by a limpid freshness and savoury sensations, typical of chalky and calcareous soils. Because of its structure, it is a Champagne suitable to enjoy throughout a meal, particularly with tasty fish dishes or white meats.
The 'Grande Cuvée' is a Champagne Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru from Robert Moncuit, produced by a Maison that cultivates an estate in the prized area of Mesnil-sur-Oger, the cradle of extraordinary Chardonnay. The grapes come from plots cultivated with old vines that are around 50 years old, producing a few bunches per plant of excellent quality and aromatic concentration. At the end of the harvest, the grapes are softly crushed and the must, after decanting, is transferred to barriques where the first fermentation takes place. After a brief period of ageing in wood, the wine is re-fermented in the bottle according to the Champenoise Method, with a minimum of 60 months on the lees before dégorgement.
The Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru "Grande Cuvée" of Robert Moncuit is a Champagne that well represents the refined and intense style of the Maison. It has a luminous light yellow colour with light golden reflections. The perlage is of great finesse, subtle and very persistent. Elegant and intense, it expresses aromas of white flowers, hints of iodine, aromas of ripe yellow-fleshed fruit, candied citrus peel, notes of almond, toasted nuts, hints of bread crust, small pastries and acacia honey. With a good structure, it has a soft and creamy entry on the palate, with complex and ample aromas, with great taste persistence, well balanced by a mineral finish and vibrant freshness.
